I believe in the fearless pursuit of knowledge to educate, inspire and accelerate the next generation of ocean scientists and explorers. I have pursued a career in science because I enjoy the application of logical thinking as a tool for exploring and satisfying my curiosity about the world around me. While sometimes frustrating, exploring the living world is bewitching.
My experiences travelling and photographing the world whilst conducting extraordinary research and teaching amazing students have motivated me to continue my pursuit into the research, teaching, and photography world.
The opportunity to connect with different people and cultures and to share all of my passions in concert is exhilarating, intoxicating, and irresistible.

MY SCIENCE
I am captivated with behavior and how it benefits conservation. Does behavior differ with age and sex? How does behavior change when infected with a parasite? How does behavior change with Marine Protected Area status?
MY TEACHING
“Tell people – and they forget, show them – and they may remember but, involve them and they will understand” - Confucius
